well, I had much time to experiment with a new proggy of mine, thanks to my friend luna who gave me a holiday picture of hers as base for the way she is standing to the viewer. I am extremely happy with the shading of the skin and the hair, as well as the cloths which came out better than I thought...

EDIT: thanks to aragornbird for pointing out the thing with the shadows. I corrected it a bit and now it looks more realistic. Thanks!!

With all due respect, the skin tone looks off. She looks as though she's black

Cleopartra may have been the last of the phtolemean family but as they took over the egyptian kingdom a couple of centruies before they mixed up with the Nubian lines. Following that it is possible that Cleopatra was indeed of a darker colour, historians even believe that she was only characteriesed as white because she was meant to be the ephitom of Aphrodite or Isis in the eyes of the poman people which are both either seen as tanned or pale in their believes (always depending on where they were worshipped).

A Proof for this are the several black Maria statues which are worshipped even today in the mediteranean, and which are known to be directly influenced by the worship of Isis and Aphrodite as black goddesses.

Besides, it wasn't directly meant to be Cleo from the start so the name was more of a mood thing... .

nice pose and really nice realism. She looks like she's pondering about something. I like the bright colours of her clothing. however, I'd imagine there being more jewels and whatnot in her hair, her being the queen of the Nile and everything.

I really, really like this. I enjoy the culture of ancient Egypt a great deal (art, books etc) and this is awesome. Great job with the detail on her skin and outfit. Her expression is wonderful as well ^_^

This is a beautiful representation of her! Cleopatra is one of my favorite historical figures!! I'm not much of an art critic, but something about your work bothers me a bit. The way it's all so blurry...I dunno if it's deliberate or not, but it kinda takes away from the detail you put into your work I think. Anyway... sorry... like I said, I'm not much of a critic.
